Preparing a Sea Grant Proposal

Unless instructed otherwise, submit one hardcopy with signed cover sheet to Virginia Sea Grant's offices, and send an electronic version to vsgproposals@vims.edu by the submission deadline. The body of the proposal should be a MS Word document (.doc) and the budget should be a MS Excel (.xls) file.

Consult individual Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for other submission requirements.

For assistance with forms Project Summary 90-2 and Budget 90-4, please contact Margaret Fonner in the VIMS Office of Sponsored Programs.

VIMS PIs should follow all usual in-house procedures, and provide the Office of Sponsored Programs with all required information 10 days before proposal due dates. PIs at other institutions should also be sure to allow adequate time for internal approvals and processing.

Proposal preparation forms and instructions

• Preproposal Cover sheet (Word file) Some RFPs may call for other cover sheets; see individual RFPs.
• Sea Grant Project Summary (90-2) form (Word file)
• Sea Grant Budget (90-4) form (Excel file). This form is pre-programed with most calculations that you will need.
