In requesting you to serve in a review capacity, we are aware that there are instances in which a reviewer may have a real or potential conflict of interest which would appear to influence the review. We are concerned with conflicts of interest (whether real or perceived) and therefore ask that you not review this proposal if you have: (a) a major professor/student relationship with the Principal Investigator (PI); (b) published with the PI in the last five (5) years; c) been a colleague of the PI in the same academic department or served directly or indirectly in a supervisory role over the PI in the last year; (d) grants, contracts, or any financial interests with a PI; and/or (e) a relationship (by blood or by marriage) to the PI. If you feel that you cannot be objective in your review, or feel that you have a conflict of interest in serving in a review capacity, please let us know immediately upon receipt of the proposal.
