Island Explorers Marine Science Program
Describes science curriculum facilitated through hands-on marine science activities correlated with the California Science Framework. Curriculum focuses on major ocean concepts and Catalina Island. Program involves overnight field trip to Wrigley Institute. Teacher training component is in development. Two student activities focusing on garibaldi and kelp are available on the site.
Grade Level: Primary elementary, Intermediate elementary, Middle school

Mote Marine Laboratory High School Intern Program
Florida high school students entering grades 9-12 may apply for this September to May learning experience. Successful candidates receive training once each month on marine sciences, current marine affairs, and teaching skills. Interns must complete: 72 hours of community service (summer months may be included) teaching in Mote's educational programs; and 2 independent projects. Students completing the internship earn one-half credit. Program fee applies. On-line application includes checklist, instructions and deadline.

University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Aquaculture/Fisheries
The Aquaculture and Fisheries Center was created in 1988 to combine resident instruction, research, and extension responsibilities into one comprehensive unit. The Center includes: Department of Aquaculture and Fisheries, Cooperative Extension Service, Biological Research Division, USDA Agricultural Research Service. This website enlists various aspects of the institution including historical information. Located in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.

DolphinLab
Located in Grassy Key, Florida, Dolphin Research Center provides a variety of educational programs, including the internationally acclaimed DolphinLab program. Basic DolphinLab, a seven-day program offered throughout the year, surveys a wide range of knowledge, theories and ongoing research concerning dolphins, the marine environment and related issues. Basic and Advanced DolphinLab programs available for those over age 18. Programs and summer camps available for students as young as 10.

Dauphin Island Sea Lab: Gulf Island Journey
One of the Lab's Discovery Hall Programs, Gulf Island Journey is a week long residential summer camp for rising 7th-9th grade students. Participants will immerse themselves in a variety of hands-on marine science programs, taught by a team of experienced educators. Activities include: trawling, exploring salt marshes, beach-combing, bird-watching, and much more. Open to students ages 12 - 14. Classes limited to 30 participants.

Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Virginia
Located at VIMS in Gloucester Point, Virginia, CBNERR works to provide field experiences for student (pre-school through college), educator and public audiences. Programs are designed to enhance awareness and understanding of the estuary and emphasize the interrelationships of coastal habitats and human activities. Trip activities include exploration of salt marsh, submerged aquatic vegetation and shallow water habitats, collection of fish, crabs and other invertebrates and water quality and watershed studies.

Sea Camp
Founded in 1986 and located in Galveston, Texas, Sea Camp has opened up the world of marine biology to over 10,000 campers during its eighteen years of existence. Participants have come to Sea Camp from across the country to take advantage of all the educational opportunities that it has to offer. Over 1,200 teachers have attended Sea Camp serving as counselors. Camps are one week long.

Camp SEA Lab
Located in Seaside, California, Camp SEA Lab is a marine science camp adventure for youth ages 8-13. Science, Education, and Adventure are the focus as SEA Campers explore the wonders of the marine world from the top of the watershed to the bottom of the deep sea. Based on National Science Education Standards, Camp SEA Lab is a classroom without walls. Day and overnight camps available throughout the summer.

Hutton Junior Fisheries Biology Program
A summer mentorship program designed to get high school students, especially minorities and women, interested in careers in fisheries science and management. Students work with fisheries professionals collecting samples and analyzing data. Application is open to all sophomore, junior, and senior high school students regardless of race, creed, or gender. Application deadline is March 1.
