National Estuarine Research Reserve System Lesson Plans

Aquarius Lesson Plans

Institute for Marine Remote Sensing Lesson Plans
A virtual remote sensing tour and webcourse for teachers plus three lesson plans from the Institute for Marine Remote Sensing in St. Petersburg, Florida. Ocean Voyagers Lesson Plans
Ocean Voyagers is an educational outreach initiative consisting of an interdisciplinary curriculum program. NOAA Ocean Explorations Lesson Plans
Access to over 160 lesson plans developed by scientists and educators during NOAA's 2001-2004 Ocean Explorer field seasons. Search by grade level, geographical region, subject, specific expedition, or keyword. Lessons correspond with a NOAA exploration, can be supplemented with daily mission logs, images and video. They include: Learning Objectives, Background Information, Evaluations, Extensions, Resources, Student Handouts, and more. Discovery of Sound in the Sea
This in-depth site defines sound and describes its measurement, behavior in water, and importance to marine life and humans. Extensive audio gallery includes examples of sound production by invertebrates, fishes, marine mammals. Human uses of underwater sound and the technology and applications of acoustic equipment are explained. Profiles of researchers in physical oceanography, marine biology, engineering provides current examples. Teacher resources include reference materials and interactive lesson plans using audio data.
