French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea
Though much of the site is in French, there is still an abundance of information in English. Their research includes oceanographic vessels, coastal monitoring, aquaculture, fishery resources, ocean floor exploration, and ocean circulation. Explore the institutes own research vessels and trace their whereabouts on the interactive map. Learn about all the technology the institute uses to conduct its experiments.

Institute of Ocean Sciences
Located in Sidney, approximately 30 km from Victoria, the Institute is home to scientists, technicians, support staff and ships' crews whose common interests are the coastal waters of British Columbia, the Northeast Pacific Ocean, the Western Arctic and navigable waters east to the Manitoba, Saskatchewan border. Site includes information on the three main divisions of IOS, Canadian Hydrographic Service, Salmon and Freshwater Ecosystems, and Ocean Science. Some data from in situ buoys are available.

University of New Hampshire Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans and Space
The Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space (EOS) at UNH is a multidisciplinary scientific research institute dedicated to understanding the integrated behavior of the Earth and its surrounding universe. Established in 1985, the Institute has become a world leader in the fields of space science, terrestrial ecosystems, oceanography, atmospheric science and global climate change. Site features information on the admissions, faculty, students, and all their current research.

University of Idaho Aquaculture Research Institute
Located in Hagerman and Moscow, Idaho, ARI promotes, supports, and coordinates aquaculture research activities at the University of Idaho and throughout the state and region. UI scientists in various disciplines conduct research in both commercial and conservation aquaculture sciences and technologies. Site includes information on facilities, faculty, current research, outreach initiatives, and publications, including access to the institute's newsletter.

Finnish Institute of Marine Research & Baltic Sea Portal
Located in Helsinki, Finland, FIMR generates information in the sea sciences for the benefit of decision-makers and practical needs. FIMR pursues research in marine physics, biology and chemistry, primarily in the Baltic Sea and other polar seas. Site provides information on current research projects, facilities, including the Research Vessel Aranda, research stations, and services the institute offers. Features an extensive collection of photographs and videos, as well as workable data.

Geophysical Institute University of Bergen
Located in Bergen, Norway, the Geophysical Institute has shifted its focus to meteorology and oceanography to meet the demands and interests of today's scientists and students. Site provides basic information on research, publications, education programs, activities, and the faculty.

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Institute of Marine Sciences
Located in Morehead City, North Carolina, the institute's mission is to serve the state and nation through high quality basic and applied marine sciences research, the training of students and young scientists, and the provision of professional expertise and leadership in marine issues ranging from local to global scale. Site features information on graduate programs, undergraduate opportunities, faculty, facilities, news and upcoming events, and all the current research.

Geosystems Research Institute at Mississippi State University
The GeoResources Institute (GRI) mission is to understand Earth's natural and managed systems and provide comprehensive solutions for socioeconomic and environmental requirements, leading to an improved quality of life. Site offers all the latest GRI news and events, plus insight into their research. Areas of focus for GRI include agriculture, forestry, water resources, invasive species, oceanography, meteorology, the environment, and how these aspects effect the nation's economic infrastructure.

Skidaway Institute of Oceanography
SkIO is a multidisciplinary research institution within the University System of Georgia and is located on a 700 acre campus on Skidaway Island, 16 miles southeast of Savannah. The Institute sits on the banks of the Skidaway River, with access to a diverse range of estuarine and coastal habitats. University of Texas Institute for Geophysics
Located in Austin, Texas, the University of Texas at Austin Institute for Geophysics is a leading academic research group in geology and geophysics. Site includes information on faculty, students, graduate programs, undergraduate opportunities, current research, and their extensive outreach initiatives, including Adopt-A-School and Teachers in the Field. Site is an excellent resource for information on earthquakes and other seismic activity.
