Environmental Protection Agency's Environmental Education Center
Hundreds of lessons, lab investigations, field activities, games, community service projects, and other resources in environmental education for both formal and non-formal educators. Background information, lesson plans, and activities are available on a variety of topics: conservation, ecosystems, human health, waste and recycling, water and air pollution, etc. Grades K-12 and beyond.

Defenders of Wildlife Bilingual Sea Otter Teaching Unit
This unit includes background information, articles on sea otter history, distribution, evolution, social structure, behavior, conservation, and more. Also included is an article on using technology as a research tool. Maps, a glossary, a quiz, and an evaluation measure are also available. The unit has been aligned to California, Oregon, and Washington standards and reviewed by the CA Science Teachers Association.

Nature's Web Newsletter
Nature's Web is an exciting newsletter for children, featuring interesting and informative news on nature and the environment. Each newsletter includes features on aquatic life, bird life, plant life, useful web sites, and conservation. While more appropriate for younger audiences, older students may find the basic information to be a good refresher or jumping-off point for more complex topics.

The Ocean Project
The Ocean Project helps its global network of zoos, aquariums, and museums (ZAMs) effectively educate their millions of visitors about how they can help protect and conserve our ocean planet. The website has resources for learning about ocean issues, how to effectively communicate ocean conservation messages, and how to take personal action to protect the ocean. Most resources would be helpful for teachers and fun for kids.

Ocean Guardian
The purpose of the NOAA National Marine Sanctuaries Ocean Guardian Programs are to encourage children to explore their natural surroundings to form a sense of personal connection to the ocean and/or watersheds in which they live. Download a K-3 activity book focused on marine debris, join an action-based program for classrooms, or become a member of the Kids Club for K-8.

The Surfrider Foundation USA is a non-profit environmental organization working to preserve the oceans, waves & beaches.
