Gray's Reef Research
Describes research projects conducted at this Sanctuary off Georgia's Sapelo Island. Projects range from geology to trawling impacts on the seafloor, estimating fish populations by video transect, Sanctuary monitoring using data buoys, sidescan sonar and other technologies. Of particular interest: satellite tracking of loggerhead sea turtles using nesting beaches in the Sanctuary. Maps, data, research summaries, field guides to seaweeds, invertebrates, fishes and other resources are available. Appropriate for grades 9 and up.
